Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group

The Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group (TCG) advocates for, develops, supports, and evaluates environmental sustainability initiatives in cloud native technologies and practices.

Mission​

The Environmental Sustainability TCG serves as a community rallying point for discussing, sharing knowledge, and coordinating initiatives that help reduce the energy consumption and carbon footprint of cloud native technologies and practices. The group brings together practitioners, vendors, and end users focused on making sustainability a first-class concern across the cloud native landscape.

  • Energy and Carbon Metrics: Quantifying the energy consumption and carbon footprint of cloud native workloads
  • Measurement Tooling: Supporting projects such as Kepler for power and energy measurement
  • Landscape Gaps: Identifying gaps in environmental sustainability coverage across the CNCF landscape

Best Practices and Guidance​

  • Optimization Guidance: Recommendations for reducing consumption in cloud native deployments
